Backyard Hero

I was given this award 10 or so years ago, and then again this year. Tonight I receive this year's plaque. I appreciate the acknowledgement, but I do not think I would ever associate the word hero with myself. I am a worker bee. I do not inspire people to do great things, I do what I do and hope to have the opportunity to influence others to do the same.

Apathy frustrates me. People who are all talk and no action frustrate me. People who only "go for the glory" aggravate me.

There are way too many people who have thousands of excuses for why they don't get involved, for why they leave things up to other people to do. Pfffffft. I have no time for that, no use for them or their words. I would respect their doing something, but just their words....mean nothing.

When its all said and done, I want to be able to look in the mirror and be proud of what I have done with what I have.
